::: OUR STRATEGY Capital Adequacy One of the strengths of ETB is its capital adequacy, which has equipped it to operate effectively and confidently in the banking industry to the satisfaction of its customers, and regulatory authorities. The Bank today has an authorised share capital of N8.0 billion, out of which N6.5 billion has been paid up. Its shareholders’ funds stand at N32.12billion as at the end of 2007 financial year. ETB’s capital adequacy has been a source of confidence to customers who see the Bank as a safe haven to deposit their funds.
ETB’s expanding branch network As part of ETB’s resolve to remain a top player in the competitive banking industry and build a leading brand revolving around retail banking, we are pursuing a rapid branch expansion policy in deploying the services of our Bank to all parts of the country and leveraging on this platform to successfully increase its share of the retail end of the market. We have a mission to be present in all cities and towns across the country to deliver superior quality banking services to the door steps of our customers. With the sharp increase in the new volume of customer base of the Bank given its new retail banking drive, the opening of new channels by way of branches has become vital to position the bank for the unfolding benefits of retail banking. ETB is on track with its branch expansion agenda as it strives after sustenance of its reputation as a reference financial institution. Opening of MoneyGram Red Shop To sustain our position In our bid to dominate the international money transfer business in Nigeria and beyond, the Bank has seen the need to continue to open ETB MoneyGram Red Shops across the country. The Bank in 2006 won the MoneyGram Best Agent Bank Award and capped it with an Achievement Award in 2008.
Products and Services ETB over the years has emerged as provider of quality banking products and services tailored towards the satisfaction of the banking needs of our customers. This is attested to by the array of quality (retail) products and services the Bank has introduced into the market based on proper evaluation of the various segments of the market. In real terms, our priority at ETB is to ensure that the Bank optimizes the opportunities provided by the mass market to provide quality banking services through our multiple service delivery channel platforms through retail banking. The Bank also repackaged EquiSWIFT, its local money transfer product. This was informed by the need to bring the services of the Bank closer to the customers in view of the on-going branch network initiative. Besides, it is to meet the changing needs of its customers. Key in the initiative is the unprecedented slash in industry transfer charges to encourage patronage and ensure the convenience of the users. The re-packaging of EquiSWIFT is in line with ETB’s thrust for banking excellence, since inception. Coming on the heels of a highly successful year, the Bank is set to continually provide its numerous customers with top range products and world class services.
ETB is offering Premier banking service to exceptionally high net worth individuals with disposable funds of N5 million and above. These customers will be serviced with specially designed products and not just the Bank’s generic products. Here, high net worth Individuals will get personalised services in the management of their funds, stocks, estate, writing their wills amongst other things. The customers here are serviced in an exclusive and private manner, not just in a regular banking hall or office setting which is relaxed, comfortable and exceptional. The idea is to start as a private branch and in the process identify and grow the cream of customers, probably collate from a number of outlets in one branch to serve them specially.
